To be fair Russia didn't compete in the athletics at all but even if they did, I doubt they would have picked up enough medals to overtake us

Hard work picking a top 3 for Sports Personality

Would probably go Mo, Murray, Trott

Will be some left out of the top 10 that would have won it by a mile in previous years.

But...Excellent performance by UK athletes...

Second in medal tally...67 with 27 Golds...ahead of China and Russia...

both with massive populations compared to
UK

Well done UK Athletes and Athletic Organizations

When are the animalympics?

The dutch boy, the water vole - is nailed on to take honours in the eating unsuspecting paddling mice decathlete.

Meanwhile in the 'fashioning dams and irrigation channels' event, the canadian otter is favourite, closely on his heels the young norwegian woodpecker also competing in the 'slapping your beak against teak wood' triage cathlon.

I hate the BBC with a passion

But when it comes to sport, they are second to none

Having lived in oz and the us, that opinion doesn't change.

My cousin in oz actually tunes into the BBC coverage as opposed to channel 7 10 or whatever for the knowledgeable and non jingoistic coverage

An Aussie ffs

Radcliffe is an absolute waste of space as is Lewis. Michael Johnson is a fucking legend though.

Agreed about how he acted, but from what I've seen, he'd be a very average pro.

Re: The Rio Olympic Games 2016
Coverage was great, apart from the marathon, where as usual, if somebody was "closing in on the lead", pound to a penny, they'd actually be losing ground, and Paula Radcliffe's analysis stretched to informing the casual viewer, that the idea was to "put one foot in front of the other, as quickly as possible now".

Clare Balding was the best commentator

If there is a better coverage of the olympics than the BBC, I have yet to see it.
Having said that I have never seen any other coverage.

Absolute class

I thought Joyce showed a load of class in the way he behaved in the ring and in the interview afterwards. Just because someone acts like a cunt doesn't mean you should act like an ever bigger cunt.

Hope he goes on to have an excellent pro career.

Showboating has no place at the Olympics, even in boxing.

There are such things as bad winners too and I wouldn't have shaken the french blokes hand. Classless behaviour made even worse by the fact he should have been the victor.

Zeb, that's him!

have a vague recollection of the crowd throwing stuff into the ring?

It was a travesty of a result.
